Charity
We face up to our social responsibility with personal and financial commitments to people. In particular we have committed ourselves to supporting the children's relief organisation World CHILDHOOD Foundation, founded by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden. The first CHILDHOOD Charity Race, a benefit event to open the HLL Dragon World Championship 2005, netted proceeds of Euro 110,000 for the CHILDHOOD foundation.
Since 2006, within the framework of the Hanseatic Lloyd Dragon Grand Prix, a regatta in this world-ranking boat class, the CHILDHOOD Golf & Race is held for the good cause in Strande and in Dänischenhagen. The unique combination of sport and society - in each case under the patronage and in the presence of HM Queen Silvia of Sweden - is every year a focus of great interest among the media.
Altogether, to date (as of July 2009) nearly 1 million Euro has been collected from golfers, sailors, guests and co-operation partners in many individual events.

”Hanseatic Lloyd Dragon Grand Prix” again top place in a charity ranking
For the second time the ”Hanseatic Lloyd Dragon Grand Prix Germany” is to be found in first place of a charity ranking. The benefit event in aid of abused children that was initiated by Hanseatic Lloyd and that achieved donations totalling Euro 200,007 heads the”Top 10 Charity List”.
”Whoever has seen the shining eyes of the children who benefit from your generous donations knows that we do not only sail for fun but want to seize the great opportunity to turn losers into winners”, Mr Harro Kniffka, Founder and Chairman of the Hanseatic Lloyd group, who died far too early and unexpected on 16th March 2009, had declared at the CHILDHOOD Patrons’ Dinner in 2007, with which he defined the objective and purpose of the initiative. Thereby the event focuses the ”World CHILDHOOD Foundation”, which was founded by HM Queen Silvia of Sweden. The foundation supports 100 projects in 14 countries in order to protect children from abuse by means of prevention, intervention and education and to give them the chance of a better future. Donations totalling almost a million Euros have come together through this initiative in the past five years in aid of the World CHILDHOOD Foundation. A result for which we thank all those involved, with all our heart!
The commitment of Hanseatic Lloyd to the CHILDHOOD foundation is closely associated with the company’s corporate philosophy. After all, sustained commercial success is the result of intensive and consistent teamwork, at the centre of which are always the people involved.
