The general economic parameter conditions for shipping can be described as excellent. More than 95% of the intercontinental trade goes by sea and the progressive globalisation and liberalisation of the markets will also in future ensure a steady rise in these international flows of goods and the related mounting demand for tonnage. More ships also need more personnel – at sea and ashore.
For this reason, Hanseatic Lloyd has started to train young people as shipping agents. To counter a shortage of qualified specialists on board in the technical but also in the nautical fields, we offer students who study ”Engineer with a qualification for Maritime Transport (Nautical Studies)” the necessary traineeships for their practical semester on board of our vessels. In addition to national initiatives for the training of next-generation personnel, we as a member of the Bremer Rhederverein (Bremen Association of Shipowners), of which Thorsten Mackenthun has been the chairman since 2007, in cooperation with another shipping company being also a member of the BRV, finance a foundation professorship for five years. This enables the Bremen University of Applied Sciences to offer 107 first semester places per year in the Navigation faculty, instead of the previous 67.
Comprehensive and high-quality vocational training is a good investment in the future. Hanseatic Lloyd furnishes you with the required conditional framework. We see training as a social duty giving us the opportunity to link highly qualified junior staff to our shipping company. We expect great engagement and interest from you because this is the only way to provide optimal training. In the following you will find information on the training opportunities at Hanseatic Lloyd.
